Julia Foulkes awarded Fellowship from the NYPL Cullman Center


Julia Foulkes will be in residence for the academic year 2022-2023 at the New York Public Library's Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers. She will be working on a project titled "Culture City: The Arts and Everyday Life in New York." This follows on the heels of her previous books, A Place for Us: West Side Story and New York (University of Chicago Press 2016); To the City: Urban Photographs of the New Deal (Temple University Press 2010); and Modern Bodies: Dance and American Modernism from Martha Graham to Alvin Ailey (University of North Carolina Press 2002), as well as an exhibition that she curated titled "Voice of My City: Jerome Robbins and New York" for the New York Public Library for Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, 2018–2019.
